Conditions apply to get free electricity: Minister George
One of the five guarantees announced by the state Congress government during the assembly elections, the Siddaramaiah-led government implemented Griha Jyoti in the cabinet meeting held on June 1.
There are many doubts in the public sector about the Griha Jyothi scheme and in this regard Energy Minister K.J. George has given clarification.
He said that household users will be given free electricity after getting the figures of electricity used for an average year. We will implement the plan from June 15. He said that if the customer uses more than the average bill, he has to pay the bill for the additional usage.
There are a total of 2.16 crore consumers in the state, out of which 2.14 crore consumers consume less than 200 units. These consumers consume 53 units of electricity on an average. Two lakh people consume 200 units more. Under the free plan, the customer has to pay the fixed fee.
